Must-See Attractions
If you prefer to explore on your own, start with the Market Square (Rynek) — one of the largest in Europe — where you’ll find the magnificent Gothic-Renaissance Town Hall and the picturesque Sukiennice Street. A short walk away lies Ostrów Tumski, the oldest part of the city, home to the impressive Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, whose tower offers a panoramic view of Wrocław.
Art lovers shouldn’t miss the Racławice Panorama and the National Museum, housing works by famous Polish artists such as Jan Matejko, Stanisław Wyspiański, and Witkacy. The museum itself is located in a beautiful historic building on the Odra riverbank, perfect for a scenic walk along the boulevards.
A bit further from the city center stands the Centennial Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Four Domes Pavilion, home to a rich collection of contemporary art. Nearby, the Szczytnicki Park and Japanese Garden offer a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
For history enthusiasts, the Archaeological Museum provides a fascinating insight into the region’s past and is housed in a preserved Gothic arsenal. Equally impressive is the Bastion Sakwowy, a restored part of the city’s old fortifications, now admired for its architecture and atmosphere.
Those interested in science and medicine should visit the Museum of Pharmacy, located in a Renaissance townhouse with an authentic historical pharmacy on the ground floor, or the Museum of Forensic Medicine, which holds one of the most unique medical collections in Europe — guided pathology tours are also highly recommended and available.
Film enthusiasts will enjoy Kino Nowe Horyzonty, Wrocław’s main arthouse cinema known for its international festivals, or DCF (Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe), a city’s prominent art cinema offering a rich repertoire of European and Polish films. Theatre lovers can visit the Polish Theatre in Wrocław, renowned for its impressive selection of both traditional and modern productions, or the Wrocław Musical Theatre Capitol, famous for its spectacular musical performances and vibrant stage shows.
Finally, if you enjoy outdoor activities, Wrocław offers an extensive city bike rental system, allowing you to explore the boulevards, islands, and parks at your own pace — a perfect way to see the city from a different perspective.
