We are pleased to announce that Marta Sobolewska, PhD student, and Mateusz Noszka, PhD, from the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Microorganisms, were awarded prizes for the best presentation of results at the 1st International Conference Advancements of Microbiology. The relevance of microbes in tackling threats to health and environment (AdvMicro2025).

Marta Sobolewska, MSc, was awarded the AdvMicro2025 Best Poster Award for her presentation of the results “Signaling controlling Helicobacter pylori chromosome replication”, while Mateusz Noszka, PhD, was magnanimously awarded the Best Runner-up Award for young scientists for his oral presentation of the results “The tremendous impact of CemR on Helicobacter pylori cell physiology”.

The AdvMicro2025 conference took place on 7-9 April in Warsaw and was organised by the Polish Society of Microbiologists under the patronage of, among others, the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Key themes of the conference included issues in medical and environmental microbiology, including those related to microbiomes, host-pathogen interactions, pathogen genomics, antibiotic resistance, among others.

The Hirszfeld Institute was represented by researchers from, among others, the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Microorganisms:  Anna Pawlik, PhD DSc, head of the Laboratory, Jakub Muraszko, PhD,  Mateusz Noszka, PhD,  Łukasz Zambrowski, MSc and  Marta Sobolewska, MSc. They presented the results of research conducted in the laboratory, including the results of projects funded by the National Science Centre: OPUS 17 (2019/33/B/NZ6/01648), PRELUDIUM 21 (2022/45/N/NZ2/02502), and SONATA BIS3 (DEC-2013/10/E/NZ1/00718).
