Preview screening of the film “MENSCH” about Ludwik Hirszfeld in Belgrade

Last Thursday, December 21, a pre-premiere screening of the feature film “MENSCH” directed by Pawel Wysoczanski took place in Belgrade, Serbia.

“MENSCH” is the story of Dr. Ludwik Hirszfeld, an exceptional physician, his belief in science and his willingness to help. It is a testimony of not giving up in difficult times of war, fighting for scientific achievements that will serve mankind. However, it is also a film about the true love story of two doctors, about support on the thorny road for those who need help the most.”

Our Institute’s patron Ludwik Hirszfeld lived in Serbia during the First World War and worked, as a volunteer doctor, in a hospital in Valjevo (1914-1916). The film “MENSCH” was partially shot in this very village in western Serbia.

The film’s premiere is scheduled for February 12, 2024 at the “Iluzjon” cinema in Warsaw.
