Dr. Agnieszka Zablocka’s project best in the Biocodex Microbiota Foudation competition

We are pleased to announce that the project titled: “Innovative Neuroprotection: the Effect of Pecheric Intracellular Commensal Bifidobacterium Strains on Blood-Brain Barrier Protection in Inflammation,” authored by Agnieszka Zablocka, PhD, has won the 6th edition of the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation competition in Poland. The project will be carried out in Laboratory of Microbiome Immunobiology headed by Sabina Gorska, PhD, in collaboration with the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. The goal of the project is to characterize bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) released by commensal Bifidobacterium strains and to investigate whether BEVs have protective potential to promote BBB integrity and astrocyte activity in inflammation, which may benefit brain cognitive function.
