We are pleased to announce that three doctoral students from our Institute were among the beneficiaries of funding in the NCN Preludium 24 competition:
– Marek Kotas, MD, from the Immunopathology Laboratory – grant entitled “The role of clozapine in moderating the biological effects of miR181b-5p and miR-34a-5p in the context of schizophrenia spectrum disorders,” grant amount PLN 209,736; consortium with the Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wrocław. The aim of the project is to gain new knowledge about the molecular basis of drug resistance in schizophrenia by looking into the molecular processes underlying SSD.
– Jakub Smoliński, MSc Eng, from the Medical Microbiology Laboratory – grant entitled “M. bovis BCG extracellular vesicles as an alternative in bladder cancer immunotherapy,” grant amount PLN 140,000. The aim of the project is to investigate the potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by BCG bacteria as an alternative to classic immunotherapy with live BCG cells. The project may also pave the way for other applications of extracellular vesicles in modern immunotherapy.
Mateusz Wenecki, MSc, from the Biotechnology Laboratory – grant entitled “Identification of the regulon and interactome of orphan histidine kinase in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)”, grant amount: PLN 209,962. The subject of the research is the so-called orphan histidine kinase, which does not have a “response regulator” protein encoded on the DNA strand next to it, and the search for this mysterious partner, or “interactome,” of the studied histidine kinase CpkM in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2). An additional goal of the research is to learn about the “regulon” of the CpkM kinase.
Congratulations!
