Settlement of the third competition of the Virtual Research Institute – Institute one of the beneficiaries

We are pleased to announce that the third Virtual Research Institute competition to fund research in the field of medical biotechnology has been decided. Of the five projects submitted, an international panel of experts gave the highest marks to two projects that will receive funding for research in the field of oncology therapies. One of them is the project “Personalized diagnostics of vascular endothelium in cancer therapy; towards modern vasculo-oncology,” submitted by a consortium consisting of researchers representing: Jagiellonian University, the Ludwik Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Wrocław, the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Olsztyn, the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology – National Research Institute in Gliwice, and the Warsaw University of Technology. At the Institute, the project will be carried out by the team of the Laboratory of Experimental Anticancer Therapy led by Prof. Joanna Wietrzyk, PhD.
The aim of the grant is to develop a new technology for an electrochemical aptasensor using aptamers and original methodologies based on polymer nanobricks, as well as a dedicated POCT device with flow microcircuits. This completely new technology will provide a tool to help with early diagnosis accompanying cardiovascular complications of cancer therapies. The amount of funding for the project is PLN 78 578 024.95. The amount awarded to IITD PAN is PLN 10 798 134.30.
We warmly congratulate you.
