10th Biennial Meeting on Microbial Carbohydrates

Tomorrow marks the start of the long-awaited 10th Biennial Meeting on Microbial Carbohydrates, organised by the Hirszfeld Institute. The event was originally scheduled to take place on 17-20 September 2024, but had to be cancelled due to flooding. Fortunately, this year there have been no complications – BMMC 2025 starts tomorrow and will last until Friday. The conference will be held at the Palace in Krzyżowa near Świdnica. The topics will focus on microbial glycans in terms of chemical analysis of their structures, synthesis and biosynthesis, carbohydrate biochemistry, intermolecular interactions, and biological activity.

During the conference, we will have the pleasure of listening to such distinguished speakers as Prof. Cristina De Castro (Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Napoli Federico II, Complesso Universitario Monte Santangelo, Naples, Italy), Prof. Miguel A. Valvano (Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom), Prof. Chris Whitfield (Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Guelph, Guelph, Canada), Prof. Jeroen Codee (Leiden University, The Netherlands) and Sonsoles Martin-Santamaria, PhD (Department of Cellular and Molecular Biosciences, Centre for Biological Research CIB-CSIC, Madrid, Spain).

Organizing Committee:

Prof. Andrzej Gamian, Director of IIET PAS

Prof. Jolanta Łukasiewicz, Head of the Laboratory of Microbial Immunochemistry and Vaccines, IIET PAS

Marta Kaszowska, PhD, DSc; Tomasz Niedziela, PhD, DSc; Wojciech Jachymek, PhD, DSc; Mariola Paściak, PhD, DSc; Sabina Górska PhD, DSc; Daria Artyszuk, PhD; Anna Maciejewska, PhD; Sabina Koj, PhD; Karolina Ucieklak; PhD
