Launch of the mini-grant project ‘Validation of an immunological strip test for the detection of canine lymphomas and leukaemias’ as part of ‘Science4Business – Nauka dla Biznesu’

At the Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences, work has begun on another mini-grant – “Validation of an immunological strip test for the detection of canine lymphomas and leukaemias”.

The grant will be implemented as part of the Science4Business – Nauka dla Biznesu project, funded by the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG), under Task No. 1 ‘Development Incubator’, pursuant to contract No. MNiSW/2025/DPI/279.

The team comprises: Andrzej Rapak, PhD, DSc (Principal Investigator for Pre-implementation Work), Justyna Kutkowska, PhD, and Ewa Zioło, MSc. The research will be conducted at the Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Immunobiology at the IIET PAS.

The aim of the grant is to conduct validation studies of a modified simple strip test for the detection of canine leukaemias and lymphomas. The test will be based on two monoclonal antibodies that detect the DLA-DR antigen present on cells of canine leukaemias and lymphomas. Blood plasma will be used as the test sample. The introduction of a simple and rapid strip test, which can be carried out by staff at veterinary clinics, will simplify and speed up the diagnostic process. Strip tests can also be used for preventive screening, as well as for monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and any recurrence of the disease. The project will result in a validated test that can be rapidly registered and commercialised.
