We are excited to announce that Professor Krystyna Dąbrowska, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Bacteriophages, is launching the project Advancing U.S. Health Security Through Innovative Phage Therapy Approaches, supported by a 2026 Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (#CDAF) USA award from @StateDept, @ExchangeProgramsAtState, and @IREX.
The project has been awarded to Prof. Krystyna Dąbrowska (HIET) and Prof. Tobi Nagel (Phages for Global Health, USA).
Through this #ExchangeAlumni-led project, Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy PAS will collaborate with Ugandan public health leaders to increase understanding of how phages can be used to combat antibiotic-resistant infections. Together, we aim to help save lives within Uganda while contributing to efforts to limit the global spread of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
