We are excited to announce that Professor Krystyna Dąbrowska, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Bacteriophages, is launching the project Advancing U.S. Health Security Through Innovative Phage Therapy Approaches, supported by a 2026 Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (CDAF) USA award from U.S. State Department, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State, and IREX.

The project has been awarded to Prof. Krystyna Dąbrowska (IIET PAS) and Prof. Tobi Nagel (Phages for Global Health, USA), the amount awarded is $9,879.

Through this project, Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy PAS will collaborate with Ugandan public health leaders to increase understanding of how phages can be used to combat antibiotic-resistant infections. Together, we aim to help save lives within Uganda while contributing to efforts to limit the global spread of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
