Dr hab. n.med. Andrzej Górski’s team’s contribution to the development of phage therapy in the world – publication in Frontiers in Microbiology

Considering the rise in antibiotic resistance, phage therapy is a topic of great interest due to its effectiveness in the clinical treatment of drug-resistant bacterial infections. A publication on global trends in research on phagotherapy appeared in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology (100 points MEiN, IF 6.064). The authors of the work, based on publications from the years 2001-2021 (over 6,000 works), conducted a bibliometric analysis, taking into account citations, trends and contributors, among other things. The Polish Academy of Sciences was recognized as having the greatest contribution, which is closely related to the activity of the Phage Therapy Unit and the Phage Therapy Center of the IITD PAN Medical Center headed by prof. dr hab. n. med. Andrzej Górski. Prof. Górski published the most works on this subject (104). The ten most important authors related to the subject of phagotherapy included as many as 4 people from the Hirszfeld Institute – prof. dr hab. n. med. Andrzej Górski (1st place), Dr. Beata Weber-Dąbrowska (3rd), prof. dr hab. Krystyna Dąbrowska (6), dr hab. n. med. Ryszard Międzybrodzki (7).
