The research of Dr. Anna Spinek of the Department of Anthropology has gained attention from Newsweek U.S., LiveScience and Science&Vie, among others.

We are pleased to announce that the research of Dr. Anna Spinek of the Department of Anthropology has attracted the interest of Newsweek U.S., LiveScience and Science&Vie, among others.

They concern a man living in the 18th century, whose remains were discovered during work carried out in the crypts of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Cracow. He was diagnosed with bilateral cleft hard palate, making daily functioning much more difficult. The re-separation of the oral and nasal cavities was made possible by a prosthesis made of copper, silver, gold and fabric. It is probably the first of its kind discovered in Poland and perhaps in Europe.

Congratulations!
