We are pleased to announce that at the 15 Edition Ekran Toronto Film Festival 2024, Pawel Wysoczanski, director of the film Mensch, received Best Documentary Director Award.

Anne Marie Perrault, Documentary Jury Member said: “Mensch left a lasting impression on me with its heartfelt tribute to Ludwik Hirszfeld, a pioneering figure in medical science. Paweł Wysoczański’s film brought Hirszfeld’s legacy to life, navigating his challenges and triumphs against the turbulent backdrop of war. Through a beautiful blend of archival footage and expert insights, Mensch reflects the compassion and resilience required in the pursuit of scientific discovery. It’s an enlightening story and one that reminds us of the power of knowledge and humanity.”

The director acknowledged his thanks for the Institute’s support while meeting with the audience.
