Professor Andrzej Górski wins the Prime Minister’s Award

Andrzej Górski

It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce that Professor Andrzej Górski has been honored with the Prime Minister’s Award.

The Prime Minister’s Award has now been presented for the thirty-third time. A total of 44 individuals and one research team were honored. The awards were presented in three categories. In the most prestigious category—achievements in scientific research, including artistic creation or applied research—there were only six recipients. Among this distinguished group was Prof. Andrzej Górski, head of the Bacteriophage Laboratory. The researcher from the IIET PAS  was recognized for his outstanding achievements: research on the use of bacteriophages in combating drug-resistant bacterial infections and their potential application in other pathologies, as well as for promoting ethical principles in science.  It was emphasized that Prof. Górski’s team deserves credit for demonstrating that phage therapy opens up new options in antimicrobial treatment, known as “phage repurposing.”

We extend our heartfelt congratulations.
