Head of the Haematology and Transplant Centre at the Lower Silesian Centre for Oncology, Pulmonology and Haematology in Wrocław
Head of the Department of Haematology, Faculty of Medicine, Wrocław University of Science and Technology
Haematologist, leader in cell therapies in haematological oncology
Jarosław Dybko, MD, PhD, is a haematologist and clinician-researcher whose professional work focuses on the treatment of haematological malignancies, haematopoietic cell transplantation and the implementation of modern cell therapies. As Head of the Haematology and Transplant Centre at the Lower Silesian Centre for Oncology, Pulmonology and Haematology in Wrocław and Head of the Department of Haematology at the Faculty of Medicine, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, he combines daily clinical practice with the development of advanced methods for treating patients with haematological diseases.
Modern therapies and the development of CAR-T programmes
One of the key areas of his work is the development of cell therapies, including CAR-T therapy, for the treatment of lymphomas, acute leukaemias and multiple myeloma. During his tenure as head of the Haematology and Transplantation Centre at Lower Silesian Centre for Oncology, Pulmonology and Haematology in Wrocław, the centre obtained certification to use CAR-T therapies for the treatment of large B-cell lymphoma and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, whilst the certification process for CAR-T therapies in multiple myeloma is ongoing. His work involves patient selection and treatment, developing multidisciplinary care pathways, and monitoring safety and managing complications associated with modern therapies.
Haematopoietic cell transplantation and post-transplant complications
His research interests focus on allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation, strategies for the prevention of graft-versus-host disease, and the analysis of post-transplant infectious complications. He is the author and co-author of scientific publications in international journals and a member of national and European research groups in the fields of haematology, transplantation and cell therapy.
Expertise, collaboration and accessibility of cell therapies
Dr Dybko actively participates in the work of national expert groups, advisory panels and expert councils, whose aim is to improve the availability, organisation and optimisation of cell therapies in Poland. In his work, he combines the perspectives of a clinician, a researcher and an organiser of the care system for patients requiring the most advanced treatment methods.
From research to patient care
The centre he heads is developing transplant programmes and cell therapies, and the HLA laboratory, which forms part of the Lower Silesian Bone Marrow Donor Registry under his supervision, has been accredited by the European Federation of Immunogenetics. His work demonstrates that modern haematology requires not only access to innovative medicines and technologies, but also efficient organisation, consistent implementation of standards, collaboration between centres, and the translation of research findings into everyday clinical practice.
