Dear Colleages,
we are pleased to invite you to
Paths of Glycobiology. Jerzy Kościelak Memorial Conference,
organized by Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy and Wrocław University of Enviromental and Life Sciences.
The conference will be held on 28-29 September, 2023.
The conference is held in memory of Professor Jerzy Kościelak, one of the pioneers in the field of glycobiology.
The conference will be devoted to diverse aspects of the research on glycoconjugates, including glycan structures, glycan recognition, roles of glycans in human diseases, glycosylation in immunity and translational glycobiology
Sugars control or influence almost every aspect of cellular processes, such as protein synthesis, cell adhesion and signaling, self/non-self or predator/prey detection or life cycle stages. In recent years, with breakthrough discoveries and new techniques, glycobiology has come to the forefront of biomolecular and biomedical research. These discoveries include carbohydrate click chemistry (2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Carolyn Bertozzi, Morten Mendal and K. Barry Sharpless), glycoRNA, cytoplasmic glycosylation pathways, single cell glycomics and bioinformatic modeling of glycan dynamics. Glycans have been called the „next frontier” of biological research and these major developments will surely attract more interest and innovation. |
